Welcome to the world of Pokémon! Though it was not always this way. This world used to be full of interesting animals, and over industrious people. They ruled this world with a fury like a plague run rampant. There was a time that we thought this world would fall to ruin. Then one day, it did.

A series of natural disasters wiped out most of the world's life, including many animals and humans. Scientists, fearing the planet would not survive without an ecosystem full of creatures, used the DNA of some extinct animals, along with the surviving animals, and through Gene-splicing experiments created a "super-creature" that could survive the harsh living of the planet, and some to assist humans in rebuilding. Through some sort of experiment gone awry, it had gained powers unlike anything seen before. It gained some form of psychic ability, and was able to control all the elements. They decided to call the creature “Mew” due to the first sound it made upon awakening.

They decided to test its abilities. So they had it complete a few tasks using its psychic powers. During one of the tests it began to split itself into clones. These clones resembled the original, but differed in minor ways. These new creatures each could control a different element, and one retained its psychic powers. Mew then flew right up to one of the scientists, gave her a hug, and then teleported out of the facility. Every attempt to find the original Mew failed, but some say it may still be flying about somewhere...

Eventually, the clones left in the lab grew too powerful to control, and fought back against their creators. Some of these creatures escaped (or were released by activists), and began to adapt to the wild gaining new abilities and changing their forms. A war broke out with humans and these new creatures; battling for control of their own destinies. After both sides had sustained heavy losses, and neither side seemed to be gaining any ground, a few heroes from the humans who had befriended some Pokémon started a peaceful petition to their brothers to end the conflict and try working together for the betterment of all.

It took time, but the call for peace was heard, and the humans allowed the creatures who wished to live freely in he wild, do so. Some, however, decided to stay with their human friends, to help them. A century passed, all the while new species of creatures began to evolve from the old. Researchers were astounded at how much quicker certain species adapted as they travelled to distant lands, in order to survive. So many popped up that Researchers began to classify them and study their individual habits and adaptations.

All the while, technology companies began to gear their research to these creatures, and eventually started gaining assistance from them to advance. They began to research how to control the creatures’ powers so that they could artificially add and remove certain powers from them to fit peoples needs better.

Science improved medicine to be almost instantaneous for humans and these creatures. The process for making this new medicine was expensive, but health care for he creatures at certain clinics was free to allow for faster service and so that anyone could help out their creatures.

New modes of domestication were created to facilitate the growing need of these creatures to help since they were better suited for certain jobs than people. They eventually gained the technology to capture these creatures in a ball that instantaneously domesticated them, as well as created a slight bond with the person who used the ball, using newfound DNA technology.

Teleporting machines were developed for transferring these creatures from one place to another, quickly. Also, trading machines were invented so that people could transfer ownership of their creatures, if the need arose.

The amazing thing about these balls was that they could fit in one's pocket, leading to the media calling the creatures "Pocket Monsters." One reporter famously flubbed the name on television and simultaneously coined the nickname "Pokémon." The name spread like wildfire and soon every country in the world was using it.

Soon it came to be that some people realized that Pokémon could be used as weapons, and began ordering them to attack other Pokémon as well as people. Then the fights began to break out. Gangs began to form everywhere. At first they were small, only one or two in the big cities. Then, as if funded by corporations, certain groups grew much larger. Each one of these claiming their entire country as their “turf.” These bigger gangs swallowed up the smaller groups, and even the police and military forces were powerless to defend against them without Pokémon.

Until one day, a group of very skilled warriors and their Pokémon rose up against these gangs and fought them back. Then they showed the people how to defend themselves against the gangs’ attacks. They held training sessions for ordinary citizens to help their Pokémon learn to fight. Then they attacked these gangs and defeated them soundly. The gangs slipped into the shadows, and hid from the public eye.

The countries’ leaders were so proud of these heroes that they commended each of them, and offered to give them each the rank of general in their respective armies. They all refused, however, claiming that they did it, not for glory, but to keep their homes and families safe.

With no other way to congratulate them one country's leader suggested that they start institutions for their citizens to learn the ways of these brave individuals. A great discussion was held, and for months they debated how they should be run. Whether they should have government control, what kind of institution should they be; they could not decide on anything.

Finally one of the heroes stepped forward with a plan. He suggested for them to set up institutions, which he compared to gyms, in the larger cities. The best trainers of their respective regions would lead their “Gym,” and teach trainers in their own way, so there could be variety of methods. He asked that the Governments for each country fund their own gyms. To trainers who can defeat the Leaders in battle, a stipend for expenses and an honorary badge from the gym would be given; proving that they learned enough to graduate.

A few rules were implemented so that the battles remained fair. Only 6 Pokémon can be held at any given time by trainers, adding the need for strategy over simply brute force. They can challenge a gym leader as many times as they want, until they defeat them. Once a badge is received, they cannot challenge that leader to an official match anymore. Judges were placed at the gyms to enforce these rules.

This program, with a few changes between countries, was adopted as the standard all over the world. Eventually, large tournaments were held for those that had gathered badges from all the gyms of their country. They would compete in an annual competition of strength and strategy, and the winner of these tournaments was crowned the Pokémon champion.

Thus, the art of Pokémon training and battling became an international phenomenon. Other Pokémon-related careers began to emerge, like Pokémon Breeders who would study the best methods for raising Pokémon, Rangers who protected Pokémon Preserves, and Professors who devoted their lives To the study of Pokémon and the education of young trainers-to-be. Soon trainers would travel to other countries just to test their merit against the trainers of distant lands.

One such trainer was Ash, from Pallet Town in the Kanto region. He travelled through every region, defeated every gym leader, and became champion in every Pokémon league in the world. During his journey he also took down the gang who called themselves Team Rocket. They had made a few attempts to take over the Kanto government by force, and launched an attack on SilphCo, the Pokéball Company.

His story became so famous that an animation company decided to make a cartoon out of it. The Pokémon TV show was used to show kids how awesome being a trainer could be, using the ultimate Pokémon Champion Ash as the main protagonist. However, they had to make him more childlike and naive in the show to show their children viewers that even Ash made mistakes, and had problems of his own.

Then, after gaining so much fame and popularity, in such a short amount of time, he suddenly vanished without a trace. Rumors began to spread about his whereabouts. Some say he was killed by a member of Team Rocket, others say he is could not handle the spotlight and decided to do heavy training in the mountains. Whatever the reason, he was not seen again for three years...

But this story is not about Ash. This story is about a boy named Chase. He also grew up in Pallet Town. His story begins at the height of Ash's reign. He didn't know it yet, but when he awoke that day, his life would forever be changed...
Here is an intro to a Pokemon Fanfic Movie trilogy I've written with a friend of mine.

I don't think I'll upload the screenplay (for obvious reasons) but I came up with this intro this morning, and I feel like sharing.

So let me know if you like the read.

Thanks!

Not a bad explanation for the origin of Pokemon. I've been writing one myself with the idea that Pokemon's advanced technology but small infrastructure implies that it happens in the wake of some kind of catastrophe. Basically nuclear war starts but is stopped before the destruction becomes worldwide. Shortly thereafter, earthquakes happen all across the planet and every fault line cracks open, releasing infinity energy that alters all life it touches (including humans). Long story short: Professor Oak's great-grandfather is in the middle of this and starts to untangle the mystery of what's going on. They manage to work with pokemon to repair the world and clean up the radiation (and make some significant advances based off the discovery of infinity energy), but they decide to restructure cities and towns to be sustainable and make sure another catastrophe like that never happens. Of course, that's assuming postapocalyptia (and no, I don't play Fallout).

Anyway, I like seeing creative origin stories. Good job.
